Jim Bridger went that way,I think he was the first to see the great salt lake. Kit Carson took a train through to California following the route, Jerimiah Johnson took some pilgrims through to California and stayed on as a town marshall. Old Doc Simons went to San Francisco area in 1835 and followed a southern trail which may have been part of the Mormon Trail and Peg Leg Smith ran stolen horse to Texas over part of it.
