OK is it possible for a child who is 2 yrs old to be diagnosed with this. When some of the childs therapists think its PDD. Yes she has behavior problems but what 2 yr old doesnt have. She is more frustrated than defiant. We had her seen by a psychologist for wrap around services which is something like Early intervention. I just think that the psychologist said she had this to get her into services and wouldnt pay attention to my concerns about the Autistic traits she displays. What can we do now. Not many child psychologists around see 2 1/2 yr olds.

Ok let me put more info into this. She does not behave all that badly. We are more concerned with other behaviors she is displaying. Such as zoning out for hours on end, she has a speech delay, she has sensory issues such as food textures clothing hair being washed or brushed, she has a constant need to have her blanket to rub on the side of her nose. She mostly gets frustrated that she cant explain what she wants or doesnt understand what we are asking her to do. She has toys galore adn she doesnt really play with them she just mathotically puts them on the table in this elaborate design but doesnt play with them. She still gets up 1-2 times a night plus she has these outbursts at night for only a few seconds but she dont wake up when she has them. And I have seen kids as young as 2 1/2 being diagnosed with PDD and Autism she is 2 1/2. I am not looking to medicate my daughter at all.

I have/had a severely behavior problem child that needed a lot of help.
First try to network support with other parents. Since she is only 2 1/2 years old it may take a while before she gets the right diagnosis. Try to get her to privet professional help verses county help...You get what you pay for. I spend 2 years with unquantified professionals.

I am in the process of writing a success story book about my 19 son. They said that he would be institutionalized because he had such severe behavioral and other issues. He is now a firefighter, collage student, and has a better head on his shoulder's then most adults I know. He has bought his own BMW, pays his own bills and has a cute serious girlfriend with a very bright future.
My point is don't put limits on your child..they can succeed. You set the tone for their future. You are you child's expert.

Knowledge is power and key here.

Some very helpful resources:
National Academy for Child Development (NACD)

Great home therapy program, my son had great results

Parenting with Love and Logic

This helped me not to rescue him, but empower him. I loved this easy, simple program so much I became a trainer.

Why do you think it's called the terrible 2s......you have to be the parent not some shrink who is eventually going to drug her so she compliant.
It could be IPD--ignoring parent disorder.
