Have you been watching the San Antonio Spurs lately? They are old. The Chicago Bulls without Ben Wallace and Chris Duhon handled them. Sure, Tim Duncan will continue to back up defenders and throw the ball towards the basket, Tony Parker will keep driving the lane, Manu G will keep doing his thing and occassionally Robert Horry and Bruce Bowen will make a three. But consistently the Mavericks are playing play off basketball with strong defense and explosive offense. The team to watch is Phoenix because they have figured out how to work Amare and Boris into the rotation. As Amare gets stronger that element that was missing last year will not be an issue. The Lakers will have to go through Phoenix and Big Baby Bynum and Inconsistent Kwame will not be able to handle Dambier, Diop and Dirk in one setting. Kobe may be able to torch a team one night for 81 points but he cannot do it throughout a play off series. So forget San Antonio they are done until they can infuse their roster with some youth. Dallas is still hungry from last year.

At the moment and for the decade of the 00's it most certainly is. Followed by the Pistons/Cavs rivalry of the mid-2000s, and the Pistons/Nets of the early 2000s for the Eastern Conference's only true rivalries of the decade. Earlier in the decade in the Western Conference you could make cases for the Spurs/Lakers and Lakers/Kings; but only the Spurs/Mavericks has spanned the whole decade. The proximity within the state of Texas also fuels the battle. Duncan/Dirk is also an underrated battle of Power Forwards in the NBA; as they always seem to play at a high level versus each other. Take last night example; both players couldn't be denied in the final seconds of the game. Was truly enjoyable basketball. I thought Duncan's performance minus Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili in the second half was brilliant was usual from one of the game's best ever. So yes, it's absolutely the best in-conference rivarly in the NBA.

SPURS of course. Spurs will win the championship this year..Forget the Lakers.. They are over rated.. The San Antonio Spurs do not get enough credit. they have great players and they all know how to play like a team. unlike some other so called teams (Lakers). the Mavs are a good team and I like Avery, but I can't stand the owner ...

I think Dallas will. Right now the spurs are not the spurs. They're missing one good piece. And Dallas is just so deep this year that they probably go all the way

San Antonio is becoming the old team of the league! They are just not as athletic or as consistant on both ends of the floor to deal with Dallas who seems to just be getting better and better as the season goes on and I think that with that bench that has players who could start for other teams on it and that sour taste they have in there mouth from last season, they are just to good to bet against!

You would think so but i personally think the Lakers have a great shot at winning the championship this year. I truly believe that as long as they can stay in games until the 4th quarter that kobe can and will take over against any defense. With all due respect to duncan and nowitzki, i would rather have the ball in kobe's hands with a chance to win the game.

highly subjective...i personally think that the suns are out of the question because they are all offense, and spurs' defense will rip them apart. the lakers have proven that they can play at the level of the spurs and mavericks. i say lakers are at least going to be strong contenders.

Dallas is pulling away from the rest of the league as the best team except Phoenix. S.A is slowly getting worse.
