You are flipping out because you are an honest person.

What he did was an "empty envelope deposit." Dishonest people will do this so they can withdraw $100 from the ATM*. Honest people do it when we have brain farts.

The bank will simply reverse it out of your account. However, since you have already "spent" it, take it to the credit union first thing tomorrow morning and go to the counter. Explain to the teller what happened. She won't care, but you'll feel better.

*Regulation E allows the first $100 of every ATM deposit to be withdrawn immediately.

You can do two different things.
1. Be there 1st thing in the morning, and take the check with you.
2. Go back to the ATM tonight, and deposit the check (this time include the check in the envelope) and call the bank in the morning about the other envelope.

Stop flipping. We all make mistakes.

Relax - get a good nights sleep. Visit the bank in the morning.

You might want to phone and leave a voice message briefly explaining what happened....and so you don't need to get up real early....say on your message that you've either stuck the deposit into the Night Depository....or, and if there is no N.D., Put in the deposit in the ATM Tonight!
Don't worry - they'll cancel the first one.
(Put a note in with the cheque either way.

No - go get some ZZZZZZZZZZZZ's

The bank will reverse the auto credit. Any payments you have made using this "money" will be dishonoured and you'll probably have extra fees. Send your hubby back to the bank and deposit the cheque.

My son did that once, and it did go in the next day. He did sign the back and write his account number and "for deposit only" on it. I think you'll be fine, unless hubby forgot to sign and write account #.

Yes you can expect a good loss for your premature withdrawal of the RD. And for the rest, hear the amount from your bank.
