my gutters have had bits of rust and we have brushed them and used rust converter now we want to protect them from further rusting. We have fixed the fall and everything working good.We were going to use "Brushable Ormonoid" till we found out that you have to paint it to protect it from uv rays so now dont know what to use. :(

Actually there is a product called, "Through the Roof." It is a clear, flexible sealant. I have seen displays where they cut out a bottom section of a gutter, put in 1/4" screen, painted it with this stuff, and it held water.

I have used it on my gutters to seal the joints, and around flashing, etc. on my rentals.

A gallon is quite expensive, but you only need a quart unless you have a lot of guttering.

Also, there is another stuff called "Snow Proof". I think that is the name. In any case, it is used to seal roofs for when the snow damns up the melting water an it back drains under the shingles.

It is a white, flexible sealant. It is cheaper than the other stuff, but not as good in my humble opinion.

Good Luck.

Silicone sealant will do nicely for the inside and out, silicone remains flexible and also seals the connections. painting? try a polyurethane as it is quite durable and lasts quite some time. Check the label for uv ray rating

There is actually a product in the caulk section of your hardware store called Gutter Lap and Seal. Its basically like a caulk, its generally grey in color and its a little more thicker than standard caulk.
