You don't have to have regular periods to get pregnant. Most people who breastfeed after having a baby don't have periods, yet they can still get pregnant. Don't know how old you are, but it can take 4 or 5 years before your periods become regular. I'm hoping your doctor did a pregnancy test before prescribing provera. Did he explain how Provera works? If I'm not mistaken, you take it for 10 days, during which you will not have a period. Then, within a day or two after the 10th day, your period will begin. It will probably be heavier than normal, and maybe painful, but it helps to get you on a regular schedule. If it works, then maybe you can consider a low dose birth control pill to help regulate your periods from that point on?? Sorry, but I'm always skeptical about using Provera to force your body to start a cycle...it's a drastic decision after only missing your period twice, in my opinion.

You may need some help from a Dr and medication but unless there is a major problem you should still be able to have a baby. Try not to worry as stress can keep your period away.

Good Luck

yes, a lot of women make the mistake of thinking, or I haven't had a period, only to get pregnant.
