i was thinking about life the other day, and i realised what everything is all summed up, everything in life. Its either happiness or sadness, be it with your job, your relationship, your car, your future, ur history, anything, its all about how you feel. so if every situation is going to be happy or sad, whats the point of life, y experience anything new if its still just going to be happiness or sadness?? ofcourse itl be different levels though

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

You are a human being.

Thus, to a very a large extent, you have "programming," based in your DNA, that you must follow and cannot not follow.

As a human being you are programmed to survive and reproduce and help your offspring survive and reproduce.

Focus on achieving these things, and you will feel happy and fulfilled because you are programmed to feel happy and fulfilled when you achieve those things.

In other words, focus on WINNING. Winning makes humans happy and fulfilled, LOSING makes humans sad, frustrated, miserable, etc.

So attack your problems and make sure you win, a least much of the time.

None of this is a matter of choice. This is how we, as humans, are programmed to be. This is our existence. There is no alternative.

There is no point. if you find yourself with life it should be lived to the fullest. For humans that means getting as much of your genetic material into the next generation as possible. When you get down to the accounting of your life, at the end, you'll remember the loves and good times. There might be life after death but its pretty unlikely so live the one you know you have

With no offense at all I suggest you answered your own Q in part, but I have a Q. This comes up hundreds of times a week here, and my question is, WHY must there be a POINT?

Is it more valid to analyze the WHY of life, than it is to LIVE it?

I offer a quote of mine, then let you ponder the WHY of everything.

"The "journey" can be as fulfilling as ANY destination."

Try to be positive even if you feel down...Positive thoughts draw random positive things your way, negative thoughts draw random negative things... I was walking out of the VA hospital the other day feeling down, and saw a 22 yr old guy with no legs... You always have something to be thankful for, things always get better ...If hardship never came your way, you would have nothing to make comparison with...Try to think positive things and see if your lot does not improve...Good luck to you

I dont think there is a true point of it.

I guess I just live for the little hapy moments.

I live because I know I would hurt others if I let myself go
