Are they any current iTunes promotions going on? anyway i can get some songs on iTunes without purchasing them?
im sure iTunes is running a promotion somewhere. I want 5 songs from iTunes of The Decemberists live recording.

Every week, iTunes has music/podcast's, etc. that you can download for free. It might not be what you are looking for, but at least it is free.
Just go into the music/iTunes store through iTunes, scroll all the way down to the bottom, there will be a box that says "FREE ON iTUNES" click "see all" and download whatever you can, while you can...

itunes gives a certain song every week for free (usually it sucks). Unfortunately itunes doesnt have every song ever made, they sometimes cant get the rights. Try limewire.

I know of one. Target has twin-packs of Cocoa Puffs going for about $5 (I think), and each twin-pack comes with a promotional code for two free songs from iTunes. Of course, you'd be looking at having to buy three of these, at a cost of $15 total, and you'd have one leftover free download to use. But if you _really_ like Cocoa Puffs (or have a bunch of kids), this might be a win-win for you.
