A general power of attorney gives someone the rights to act in the other person's behalf on any and everything in their lives. Finances, children, etc. It is not advised that anyone ever give somone one of these, except in very rare circumstances. The person getting the power of the attorney basically make any decision for that person.

A power of attorney is a document where a person authorizes another person to act in a legally binding manner for them.
You could give me a Power of Attorney to buy you a car. I could go find you a car and buy it for you. You would never have to sign anything else, but you would be obligated to pay for the car. The car would in fact be yours.
A general power of attorney is the least favorable kind because it allows another person to make decisions for you without any other input from you. They will always have an expiration date or condition. You might have to have major surgery where you could expect to be incapacitated for months, but you need someone to run your affairs and make decisions for you. After you decide who that will be, then you give them a General Power of Attorney to act in your behalf. My goodness, you really want to be sure you trust that person!

General power of attorney means that you authorize any person to to deal on your behalf for the buying and selling of property. Power of attorney should be specific. Give attorney to a specific person.

I ALWAYS THOUGHT POWER ATTORNEY , WAS THE PERSON WHO MAKES DECISIONS WHEN SOMEONE WHOSE PHYSICALLY AND / OR MENTALLY ILL SERIOUSLY , ARE NOT ABLE TO MAKE DECISIONS FOR THEMSELVES ..BUT , SOMETIMES IT IS BEST TO HAVE A WILL MADE UP , CAUSE SOMETIMES THE POWER ATTORNEY , CAN BE GREEDY EITHER IN A GOOD WAY , LIKE NOT WANTING THEIR LOVE ONE TO DIE OR IN A BAD WAY ,NOT WANTING TO LET THEIR LOVE ONE DIE CAUSE THEY WOULD LOSE THEIR SOURCE OF INCOME.
