We were together about a year ago. Things weren't that good. He did a lot of drugs and drank a lot. In the end he flipped out and he had to go through his own personal problems. Anyway I've talked to him little over the entire year. When all of the sudden he asked me out again and said he still loves me. I really have no idea what to do. I know that part of me still loves him yet part of me thinks that I shouldn't. One of my friends told me to hang out with him first and see if hes really changed (hes quite smoking and drinking). He says how he wants to marry me and be with me. He tells me how he wants me but hes willing to wait. Should I give him one more chance?

no
and you did not learn your lesson
he WILL relapse into drug and alcohol
you never fully borke it off
and that shows a lack of maturity on YOUR part
as sins like that are NON forgiveable
you NEVER keep up the contact
the only reason you do is because you lack self esteem and believe you cannot get any guy better than what you had
in short you settled for MUCH MUCH less and you have low standards for any sort of relationship
you need to take a hard look at yourself
stop talking to him ( and basically forget him in general )
and hang out with more positive people
their in time you discover positive men who can form and sustain healty realtionships.. as you are not ery mature at all that much is clear
good luck

Build a friendship first. Don't go in thinking this will be a relationship. Just be friends

I'd say your chances of success with an ex you have a bad history with or always less than good. Regardless of his newfound sobriety I'd say no.

Remember the reasons why you split up. He is your ex for a reason and people don't change.
