She's not in heat and she hasn't been spayed although she's not in heat right now. She has NEVER wanted out before, some how my brother was going out and she went w/him. We looked for 30-45 minutes and it's dark outside. She's about 10 lbs and black so I can't find her. Do cats remember where they live and ever come back?

Sorry I said the same thing twice, I'm scatter brained.

If she has lived inside for 9 months she will probably return as that is her home. She may be in heat, it is not always possible to tell physically, sometime strange behaviour is the only way you can tell, I agree that if she does came home get her fixed immediately.
Cats will also run off if they have had a bad fright or been hurt even if it was accidental (she wouldn't know it was accidental).
Cats have been know to travel up to 10km in a night so just because she isn't coming when you call doesn't mean she's not going to return.
Good Luck.

one time i had a kitten about 8 weeks old i put over the counter flee medication on it like advantage it flipped out and started climbing up the side of my sons play pen and bouncing off the walls. my husband came home and it shot out the door. i looked every where.two weeks later on the porch i heard something it had made its way back and got stuck under the house. my point is if a crazy 8 week old kitten that had never been outside can make it back home. your should be able.

Kitty's having a blast, when she comes back get her spayed and put in a doggie door. She'll love you for giving her some freedom and independence. My cats come and go and they even have cat friends that come to the doggie door looking for them.

Sure she'll come back. She is just exploring and most likely will come back when she is hungry. Try not to stress and when you wake up. Go look for her in daylight. Most likely she'll be waiting at the front door :-) Good Luck

When my cat got out she didn't wander far. She hid in some bushes in my backyard and then got hooked up on one and that is where I found her. Ever since then she hasn't wanted to go out!

Yes, just go out once in a while and call, and rattle the cat food.

Before I shoot my mouth off at you if you don't deserve it, when was she in heat last, and did you note the behaviour that time??
