I've found that some of the best ice creams are coming out of niche spots focusing on home-made, small batch production ice creams with interesting and seasonal flavors. A few in the SF Bay Area include: Bi-Rite Creamery (http://www.biritecreamery.com/), Ciao Bella and Sketch in Berkeley (http://www.sanfran.com/archives/view_story/116/).

Always worth a look around your own hometown to see if there are local ice cream shops that make their own--often this stuff is better than what you can buy in a store!

ColdStone Creamery is definitely the best. They have everything...tons of flavors of ice cream, and every possible topping you could imagine...cookies, candies, syrups, marshmallows, chocolates, fruit...And they mix it all up on an ice cold stone right in front of you. It is so fun, and SO good!
They are located in most large cities!

Okay, so a friend of mine works at Cold Stone and he invented his own little ice cream and I thought it was pretty good.
He got Vanilla Ice Cream and added Reeses candy and Graham Cracker to it.. Yummy yummy :)
Or just go out to Cold Stone and create your own :)
