If you are listed as a protected class (this includes minorities, the handicapped and some ex-politicians):
Welfare
Free Housing
Free Medical Treatment
Free Medicine
Free Legal Representation
Requirements for companies to hire you.
Free Education....the list goes on.

If you are not on the protected class list then you get to pay for all of the stuff above. Ain't it great?

Ummm, none. Seriously? Socialism takes away any incentive to be the best you can be. Why would one person work any harder when the next person can be half as productive and they still make the same...oh wait, those are called unions.

None to the people who are forced to pay huge amounts in taxes for the supposed advantage of having tremendous government control of one's life. Far greater advantages to fat bureaucrats who like to feather their nests on the backs of the taxpayer.

None, look at what it has done to Europe. Double digit unemployment, zero economic growth, etc.

Short term or long term? Short term, they help the poor and underpriviledged. Long term, it's not beneficial, its hugely destructive.
