Yup, defo. Played at school, then at uni. Awesome instrument... well, at least played properly (i.e. not by me).
Actually there've been a few bassoon questions on here recently, so there are other people out there too :)
Of course, one advantage of a lack of bassoonists is a relatively easy audition for orchestras (compared to, for e.g., clarinet)...

Yes! I've played since I was 13 (now over 10 years ago) and still play loads in orchestras. Best thing I ever did was taking up the bassoon!

I'm a bassoon major...
The question was whether anyone played the bassoon--not whether OR NOT anyone played the bassoon. Callie, if I were you, I'd report the non-bassoonists as abuse, for not answering your question properly. C'mon people!
