The alert is as follows: Alert: A split, merger or similar event has occurred. [Update your portfolio]. I click on the link, but no updates happen and the alert messasge remains listed on the portfolio page. I tried deleting the stock and waiting 2 months to add it back to my portfolio, but the alert reappears? This is frustrating! Does anyone know how I may resolve this??

Yes, as you mentioned, I already tried deleting it from my portfolio a few times but still didn't work. Unfortunately, the alert doesn't give me any options to disregard it or anything other than a link back to the portfolio. :-(

I've been living with the same thing since SKS paid a special dividend !! It's annoying... used to be when you clicked on " Update your portfolio" there were a couple of options...do some math and it was fixed...or I believe there was one option about ignoring it........Now it just says " no changes have been made to your portfolio" and when you return the " alert" is still there..
I guess you can E-mail yahoo, but I got tired of doing that when they changed the formats for their message boards........
so, now I just feel like I'll put up with it....until the straw that breaks the camel's back.

I had this problem and I was able to hit Ignore and it got rid of the message. This Ignore option popped up only after I added another stock to my portfolio that split recently. Another thing you can try is to delete the stock ticker symbol of the stock that split and retype the correct information yourself.
