Run viniger mixed in with water through the coffee maker. Then run plain water about 2 or 3 times through it. This takes out the build up. Also, there is a product in the stores that you use the same way called DIP-IT. It works really well.
If it is just the pot, use the same thing, just swoosh it around, ice cubes help break up the junk that sticks.

most coffee pots can go in the dishwasher. If you mean you want to clean the coffee maker, run a mixture of 1 pt water, 1 pt vinegar through, followed by several cycles of plain water to rinse.

Add vinegar to the water resevoir until about 1/4 full. Fill with water until full. Run the coffee maker. Turn off the coffee maker; let cool for 10 minutes, empty. Run with just water to rinse.

I use bleach and hot water. I do this on both glass and metal coffee pots. They come out beautiful. Rinse well. There is a product you can buy in your grocery store for this but, I find bleach works the best.

I've found that using the dry dishwasher washing detergent and some hot water gets it sparkling! There is a bleach in the product as well as enzymes that break down food particles, its great on ANYTHING I need to get clean tht would normally need a lot of scrubbing. Baked on food on pots and pans especially! Pour the detergent in, pour hot water on top and let it soak. Done!

In waitressville we used to fill the glass pots with ice, pour in some salt and swizzle around...nice and sparkly, no stains.

I put in at least a cup of ice ice and a couple of teaspoons of salt and swirl around vigorously. You can also squeeze some lemon in.
(I learned this when I was a waitress in college)
