It seems the headlines on any news worthy internet website, tabloid or front newspaper or television is about sex. When is it anyone’s business who has sex with who and who with? We're inundated with sexuality, be it underage, overage, perverted or otherwise. I’m sick of it. In other cultures, no one bothers with idolizing sexuality, nor for that matter, does anyone care, but for Americans and our Western media, we’re obsessed with sex. Am I over exaggerating or is this being forced down are throats purposely?

Yes, we are. It's good that people are not completely in the dark about sex anymore, but it's become like a handshake to some people, and that's messed-up. Sex is an intimate activity and it should not be indiscriminate. Congratulations on knowing slow is good. Too many girls grow up thinking they have to do this or that sexual act, no matter how unworthy of her attention a guy may be, or how unappealing she finds the act. They never learn to be confident about who they are and what value they have as people, because deep in their hearts they think no one will love them if they don't do things they're not ready for.

Turn on MTV and all you'll see is a bunch of beautiful people gyrating in each others faces, rappers degrading women and talking about every facet of sex, and people throwing around sexual terminology like the weather.

I agree with you, it's disgusting how much we're getting shoved in our faces each and everyday. Personally, when I turn on the TV, I love music, but I'd prefer not to be bombarded by everything sex. Especially as a young person, I find it really hard to take things seriously. I'm already feeling wierd about the world and having to be responsible and avoid stuff like sex and drugs, but I turn to anything pop culture and it's being introduced to me like it's common, that everyone is doing it and that it's the norm to be disgusting.

I also really can't stand the way that guys and girls my age are acting. I'm 99% positive it's because of the way we're getting exposed to the fragile topic of sex. At dances, girls dress in the sluttiest ways possible, even girls as young as 13, and grind up against guys because they think they have to. Guys, of course, think this is ok, and some of them just love to talk dirty in front of everyone, whether they want to hear or not.

I truly think that the issue of sex around the media is going to really harm my generation in the long run, and I'm really glad you brought it up.

Yes, we are overly sexualized. People are becoming very animalistic, and think of sense gratification all the time. People are being taught to believe that the purpose of life is to enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, and that pleasure is the highest goal. So now there is just sex everywhere, and it has led to unwanted population and abortions. Sex is just a bodily irritation, an itch that wants to be scratched, and the urge can and should be controlled.

our brains are hardwired to notice sexual cues, images and ideas. at some point this was picked up by someone (who should have been burnt at the stake long ago) as an excellent way to attract attention in order to create desire for products and services we didn't necessarily need.

sex is important. why has it been trivialized and cheapened (prostituted, even - forgive the pun) away from being this sacred thing to being somewhere closer to blowing one's nose. hyperbolic, perhaps, but food for thought.

No, American men are the opposite, and that's why pop culture and the media exploit our unfulfilled desires by putting out all the skanky, c*ckteasing material

Americans love sex. There's nothing wrong with a healthy and active sex life.

yes, it is. too much focus and exaggeration on sex = younger, avoidable pregnancies and = lower self-esteem and higher expectations... it's a bad sign...

Ok Nancy Reagan, way to be a collasal prude. You know not all Americans are sex-crazed whores, you could go move in with the Amish who believe that sex should only be used for procreation. But don't worry they like build barns and are decreasing in numbers, so they need more babies.
