I've ran wizards upon wizards, nothing works. All of the things that need drivers are Yellow Question marks in the hardware listing (right?) My mom says if I cant get it fixed myself, I have to take it to Best Buy (geek squad) which is going to cost me 240 bucks. I tried to install the driver for my router to start off, well I went to the website, burned the driver to a cd. The computer can't install it because it is ".chk" file, containing fragments. I also have to network a fax/printer with my mother's laptop as well. If anyone can help me get all of my drivers back, or any methods of how, I would appreciate it.

You will need the Motherboard make, model and revision, actually you will need it for everything installed in your computer. Get s screwdriver, open the cover, and write down everything.

Then go to the website and download the drivers, you don't need to burn to CD.
Then one by one, install the drivers for the components that are in yellow.

Post more info on your progress, or email me, i would be glad to help.

Hi, I just had one idea. Do you see PC Help and Tools in Start -All Programs. There are 2 options you could try Software Repair or System Restore. System Restore will allow you to pick a date in the past when everything was working and reset your computer to the way it was on that date.

ok 2 ideas -do you have the original install CDs for the printers and fax?

When you say reformatted I am not sure what you mean? Did you try to install a new OS? Does your Internet provider offer a fixed amount of Dial up access hrs per month. Until you can get up and running.

Call around the local computer stores and ask how much to install drivers for your computer. As one said the router doesn't need drivers, but the network card in the computer does.

go to the manufactures' website as they generally will post them for free. First download and install the ethernet/LAN controller drivers and all other drivers relating to your network cards. Then run windows updates as that will grab a few as well. Then go back to the manufactures' website and download the missing drivers and install them.

Routers don't need drivers though you can perform firmware upgrades. You have no idea what you are doing. Better come up with the $240.
