OK the first step is an obvious one, look up the word and really study the definition. Now what are you good at or can do fairly well? Use that to explain your word. Whether it is a small skit or a very passionate short story that uses the meaning of the word as the moral or story line. Just use your noggin don't make the assignment harder that what it is and remember to have fun.

I would do a demonstration. Perhaps get some candy. Let's say something chewy like tootsie rolls or something like that and have three students volunteer to race to see who can finish the candy the fastest or who can eat the most pieces in one minute. Whoever finishes the fastest or eats the most, you can say that the individual "devoured" the tootsie rolls. I had a speech in college where I did something similar and the whole class loved it as well as my instructor, I got a 98 on the speech. Good luck!

My little brother is having a surprise birthday party and my mom put his birthday cake in my room to hide it until the party later today. It's my favorite flavor, rich chocolate cake with white icing, and I can smell it constantly as I hang out talking on the internet. As the day drags on, I begin to realize that I will not be able to resist my urge to eat this cake. 10 minutes before the guests start to arrive I give in to my desire and I devour the cake. Head first, I dive right in and eat and eat. No fork, no spoon, just hand to mouth shoving of that wonderful, gooey, chewy cake. I keep eating despite the frosting flying all over the room and I find myself growling like a rabid dog. Before I know it the cake has been completely devoured and I am trying to find a place to hide!

"Guys, I was so hungry this morning! I had not eaten anything since yesterday at lunch because I was so involved with watching the Golden Globes. America Ferrera won and so did Jennifer Hudson, it was too much to break away from and I forgot to eat dinner. So by the time I sat down to breakfast, I absolutely DEVOURed my eggs and bacon, my toast & jam, and my glass of orange juice!"
