Oh you mean the parking spaces that are always open because they think they don't want to use them, until the parking lot is packed? So that's what they're for...
Edit: Oh and I forgot about when it rains or snows, then they're full too, but that's only after they have a line of vans in front of the door and give you dirty looks (I'm not sure whether it's for being soaking wet, or because everyone else can walk and they're jealous [which is fine because if I couldn't walk I'd be slightly jealous too]) because it's not hard enough trying to get around anyways.

So if they want to get treated the same as everyone....why all the wheel chair ramps??
Because they're handicapped, by making things like ramps, handicap parking spaces, IS making them feel like they dont have a disability because they can then do this stuff for themselves without help!

because their handicap makes it much harder for someone to move farther. say for example that you are in a wheelchair driving to the grocery store. you HAVE to park in a handicap spot because you need room for the ramp to get out of the car. if you were to do that in a normal space, there wouldn't be room for the ramp. even if you found a spot with an empty space right by the driver's side, what if that space became taken after returning with your groceries?

most handicapped spaces are wider so people using wheelchairs can get in and out of their cars easier. Unfortunately other people who only pretend to be handicapped use these spaces when they can't find a closer parking space.

Special provisions for the handicapped allow them to live as close to a normal, self sufficient life as possible.
Don't be mean. You may discover the reason personally at some point in your life.

Because they need it.
Of course then you have the lazy fat people who try to get it so they don't have to walk.
I think if someone gest to part there they need to be HURT or very old....not just lazy
