No, the guy just needs to accept rejection and move on. If he really believes that he's that good then he could go onto other auditions for other places. There are other venues besides American Idol and American Idol shouldn't be sued because someone can't handle being denied a ticket to Hollywood.

Well first off I don't know all the details & I didn't know that someone killed themself over idol denial. If it was someone who was watching the programme & killed themself for that-No they shouldn't be sued & really only the authoritys would know all the specific details of the person (who ever that was at the time). As a nation or people we choose what tv programmes we watch & music we listen to. There has been cases in America, where people/teenagers have killed themselves over particalar music etc. So at the end of the day it's entirely up to the indivual of what we watch, do, associate with as so on. I hope I've answered this in a way that is comprehendable.

no...there are virtually always preexisting mental conditions in suicide. If this actually happened, I would personally feel angry and internally blame idol (simon) for contributing to this person's illness, but it can't be 100% their fault and they can't be held accountable to that degree.

This happened to Nancy Grace who interviewed someone very agressively about killing her daughter (or something like that). the woman killed herself after the interview.... nancy grace is 30% to blame in my eyes, but not in the eyes of the law really. It is very difficult to prove cause & effect like a car accident injuries (and even those are contested for years).

Did they tell him to kill himself?

Did they give him the gun?

They have to have done something flippant to be a lawsuit with merit.

Otherwise, the case will just be thrown out.

If I kill myself with a smith and wesson should my family sue them for making the gun? If I break my legs running on the grass do I sue scotts corporation for not making their sod better? If I choke on a jaw breaker because I swallow it whole do I sue willy wonka for not telling me to suck on it first? Lets get real and move on.

so... should they accept someone for fear they're going to kill themselves?

People in the army commit suicide all the time, they don't get sued.

Suicide = Killing yourself. You did it, not AI.
There was obviously something leading up to suicide, not just a rejection from AI.

Never heard that. And, no, they shouldn't be sued. The key word here is killed "himself".
