My parents have old cassetts that I really like and would like the songs on my IPOD but I don't think you can connect an Ipod to the radio/cd player can you? I had a Samsung MP3 player that you could but somebody stole it.

i think you'll need to get a Tape/CD Recorder. record onto the CDs then onto your iPod. i don't think you can record directly onto the iPod. i know it can be done because one of my friends did this for my mom. i can ask him.

you could buy a music recording program for the computer and just get a wire to plug into the tape player and the other end into the microphone jack on the computer and record it to the computer that way it takes awhile but its rather easy or if you have "voice recorder" on the computer already it comes with some computers you can use that then all you need is the wire which is like 4-5 bucks at most electronic stores

You would probably need a mixer, either one that has digital recording capabilities, then you could plug the cassette player in its input and record it, or if the mixer does not have digital recording capability, you'll further need a computer to connect to it. You would need a little understanding of the use of sound studio equipment to do this. You could also go to a local studio where high school bands reherse, and you could ask them if they could help you with this.

your needs consist of two different things --- #1 the physical parts like cable and connectors for linking your tapemachine with your PC, and #2 the software for actually recording the sound onto your PC´s hard disk.

the physical bit should be fairly simple. provided you have some sort of line out/headphone jack on your cassette deck it is only a matter of finding a cable that has a connector that fits that output on one end, and most likely a 3.5mm stereo plug on the other end to go into the "line in" of your PC´s soundcard. Note though that unless your pc does not have a "line in", you should NOT connect to a "mic in" on your PC, since those inputs are far more sensitive and will only distort a line level input.

then the matter of recording software. go to www.download.com and search for FREE audio stream ripper. no need to buy expensive softwares or equipments. personally I´ve used "SoundCapture 1.1a" and "Audio Recorder for Free 5.6", and they're both just perfect for recording and editing any sort of audio. but there´s such a bewildering array of software available for this particular task that you really have to try out one or two and stick to whatever works for you.

goodluck = )
