Is there anything better than an Ipod and cheaper than an Ipod?

There's always something cheaper than an iPod, which is how many portable digital music player manufacturers survive (kid begs for an iPod, buy him/her a little 128MB player for $20). As for better, well, once you hit the iPod Video level, all the big manufacturers offer comparable 30GB players for the same price as the iPod, and most of them also offer 60GB players for the same price as the 80GB iPod (note the 20GB capacity difference there, though). iPod offers the best integration with its computer-based software interface and the most user-friendly control scheme. Other players offer functionality that iPods don't (the two biggest are built-in FM receivers/transmitters). All of them offer the ability to play audio formats that are better than the universal MP3 format, but the particular format(s) vary from one player to the next. I suggest reading up on the particulars, take the "better performance" claims with a grain of salt, and pick which one sounds like it will offer you the biggest bang for your buck. Just keep in mind that the iTunes software will offer you the least work-intensive means of uploading your music (complete with album artwork). You can even go so far as to set it to upload every song and playlist in your iTunes library, at which point all you'd ever need to do is download music from iTunes or have the softare rip a CD that you've placed in the drive, plug your iPod in after it's all done, and voila, it has new music available for you to play at your whim.

Cheaper? Yes plenty of cheap mp3 players (check bestbuy.com) However, iPods are the most advanced and usually best overal quality for the cost :)

i have a creative zen it is 30 Gb, 180 hours of video, a great LCD diplay, you can put files from powerpoint and word on it, you can download movies on it,it holds 16,000 songs and 30,000 pictures, you can fix details about the pictures. it is a great quality mp3, 100 times better than ipod. but it is a bit more expensive. so i really dont know of anything "better and cheaper". im so sorry. but i really encourage you to get the creative zen
www.dell.com, you can check them out, oh and theres a bunch of more stuff ou can do on it like organizing time and dates, alarm to wake you up, world time zones, blah,blah, blah. its really good to keep you organized. Mine was $260

are you interested in MD player (like myself) ?
About the same price, better sound quality but cant hold as much songs as Ipod does....

i had a memorex 1gb mp3 player for 80 dollars. runtime on one aa battery is 80 hours. it has a great sound till i dropped it in the lake. fried it
i fit over 450 songs on it running 96kbps. i rivers are pritty good too.
now i have a zen 30 gb for like almost 300 dollars

A Creative Zen Nano PLus 512mb, it was $75 for me to have for Christmas! :) It holds 500 songs and can be played continuously for 18 hours.

no I don't think so. the only things that will be cheap is those little mp3 players you can find at stores like radioshack, walmart , target and them. they price about $60.00 and up. they dont have that many gb's.
