The lady on the radio today was talking about they gym she goes to to work out. She was expressing concerns about the clothing the girls and women wear at her gym. Many were wearing swim wear; 1 piece, 2 piece, and some were wearing UnderArmor underware.

She felt this was terribly wrong to wear in a gym. Some agreed with her, many, especially mothers with daughters, did not!

One woman made a good response. "Why is it OK to wear a bikini at a beach, in public, in front of hundreds of people, but NOT ok to wear a bikini indoors, in a controlled environment like a gym? Are people going to see something they would not see at the beach?"

What do you think? I thought this was a double standard.

Have You ever considered the fact that some people are going to the gym so that They CAN wear a Bikini at the beach? Life is a concatenation of double standards, half-truths, white lies and good intentions. My best friend has a body most women would die for. She goes to the gym to stay fit. She goes to the beach to stay tanned. She goes 'topless' at the beach, but not at the gym. Point taken?

I personally don't think that it is right to wear them in the gym OR at the beach... but excluding that I would say that their is a time and place for everything and the gym is not the time and place bikinis and undergarments

I think its more important to examine the motive behind the clothes. There was obviously more on their minds than pumping iron. I think she the radio host identified the fact that although it is not inappropriate to wear a bikini, it is inappropriate to make a conscious effort to be as naked as possible in front of a bunch of people in a public place.

Bikinis are to attract attention. Gyms are a place to work out. It's really not a social place. You should cover and protect yourself from other people's sweat too.

It could be that the lady on the radio you refer to doesn't think that it is OK to wear the bikini outdoors in public.

i don't think i would want to go to the gym and see bikinis personally. i guess she feels when you go to the beach you're signing up to see that kind of clothing and you know it's going to be there. when you go to the gym you aren't expecting to see that kind of clothing. so maybe she doesn't go to the beach?? anyway i agree and at the same time disagree with her.

By same standards they should be allowed to wear it in the office, in parties, in wedding, in schools and colleges and so on. See what I mean?

Beach or gym, any woman who goes around in a bra and underwear in a public place conjures up only one word in my mind. SL*T.
