Honostly, most prices are very close because if one was cheaper than the other, there would be no business in the others... business things :P

Try looking on:
bestbuy.com
circuitcity.com
walmart.com
etc.

Most storefront retailers will include the iPod in their ad flyers even though they (almost) never actually offer it at a sale price. You could wait months, scouring every major flyer in the Sunday paper and never see it go on sale. Or you could get lucky and it'll go on sale the week you're ready to buy one. Wal-Mart, due to their "lowest pricing" policy, will probably offer it for a buck or two less than everyone else, who will all be selling it at MSRP. Like the Nintendo DS, they practically sell themselves, and retailers see no need to price them competitively. Online stores will still charge you sales tax when required to by your local/state governments, plus they will often charge you shipping/handling, plus you'll have to wait for delivery based on how much or little you were willing to spend on S&H. Some of them offer prices that are low enough to offset any S&H charges, and those will be your best bet at finding them for a lower-than-average price. Right now, Ritz Camera is selling the 30GB for $229.99, which is the cheapest Shop.com lists, and the cheapest I can find with a quick search.

Keep in mind, however, that many online/storefront stores offer free in-store pick-up if you want to buy them online but avoid S&H charges, and you might get a better price or some sort of money-saving bundle offer that makes this a better choice than just showing up to buy one. You can also get free engraving from some retailers (I know Apple's online store offers this, and I think I saw a mention somewhere that Best Buy is offering it now as well).
