When I previously asked about what reproductive responsibilities men and women have, I was told that while men have a responsibility to pay child support if the mother chooses to have the child, that this responsibility is matched by the fact that whether a mother aborts the child or abandons it she is still responsible.

1. Who here thinks that a woman aborting an unwanted child or abandoning it at a firestation counts as taking responsibility for that child?

2. Does that count as equal responsibility to a man that would have to pay child support if she chose to keep the child?

3. Extra credit: Is this the feminist idea of equality, because I was told this by a feminist who claims to be about equality?

Elle M: The mother abandoning a child is legal in 46 states, thanks to feminists. You still didn't answer the question of whether ABANDONING the child equals the same responsibility of a man paying child support.

Women have the right to contraception as well, you need to answer whether HAVING an abortion is the same level of responsibility as a man paying child support, which you didn't.

And if you believe in child support then why are you leaving out that part of the man dealing with consequences?

At the point you refer to:

The woman decides what the consequences are, but she can force the man to deal with them, she does not have to deal with them if she chooses.
The man must deal with the consequences, but in no way can decide what they will be.

Roscoe: No. She doesn't. Abortion and child abandonment are available options to her if that is what she wants.

And Baba Yaga your "points" on this subject have been already dealt with around a million times. You reduced yourself to a troll long ago.

So far only littleviv has actually understood the question although basically her logic on no.1 is that if a woman is too irresponsible to bring up a child, the most responsible thing she could do is make sure she doesn't bring up the baby by whatever means.

The logic behind the question is stupid, I know. That is because it came from a feminist, but answer the actual question please.

Future answerers please answer: Is a woman abandoning her chid or having an abortion taking the same responsibility a man is if he pays child support?

No, she's not.
The theory that seems to be popular at this point of time is if a woman says she doesn't want the child and gives it away, she's a hero who's made the right decision.
If a man says "I don't want it".. he's an a#$hole with no sense of responsibility.
There is absolutely no equality or justice in today's society which basically gives every woman out there the right to choose who's going to pay child support.
There are far too many men who were mislead into believing their mate was on birth control when she wasn't and pay for it for the rest of their lives.
If a woman decides to follow through with a pregnancy and further makes the decision to raise the child than she should be responsible for it.
Except for the exceptions of couples who have been trying to have a child together, or where the man doesn't agree with birth control, I believe that if a woman decides to get pregnant & have a child IT IS HER RESPONSIBILITY!
Why is is that feminists want total equality, except in the case of having a child in which they expect TOTAL CONTROL?
Maybe they should give the man the option to drop the birth certificate off at the fire station indemnifying them from any legal obligation?

1. I'm iffy on the abortion part of the question. But, I do believe that if she took the child to some place where she knew the child would get help and better care than what she could ever give him/her, then yes she is taking responsibility for that child.

2. I'm not sure. Of course, I don't think that a man should be forced to pay child support because women have more ways out of child rearing then a man does, and I believe men should be able to opt out just as "easily" as a woman can(abortion, taking the baby to a fire station, or putting the baby up for adoption aren't easy decisions to make, but they are still more decisions then the man can make).

3. No, it isn't the feminist idea of equality because the men have less rights in this then the women do so that means that they aren't equal in this.

Yes, that was my point about taking the baby to the firestation/hospital/police station. I'm still iffy on the abortion part of it, because sometimes a woman decides to have an abortion because she knows that the baby will not have a good quality of life(genetic disorder/defect or something of that nature), but not all abortions are for that reason.

That's a hard question. On one hand, a man should have much reproductive rights as a woman. On the other hand, pregnancy first shrinks the brain, then changes the brain, changing the woman forever. It causes some women to get very sick, unable to work in some cases, to be forgetful, overly emotional and so forth. Also she has to take dietary measures and cannot live whatever lifestyle she wants if she is not to harm the baby. Then there are the hormones involved, the labor itself, plus the trauma of having to part with a child (I know that's there, too, with abortion, but just saying). The body changes... I don't know. Pregnancy is a big deal, I'm not sure if a condom breaking or a pill not working (it happens!) should be able to sentence an unwilling woman to that, especially if she doesn't even want to have kids. What if there is a good reason she didn't want him, in particular, to father her child, but not one that she could be able to prove in court? What if ... I don't know, I think it's too risky a thing.

My opinion is a WOMAN who aborts her child without the father in agreement is NOT being responsible, if she chooses to abort a baby on her own, she is being SELFISH. If she never wanted a baby then she needs to be RESPONSIBLE by taking the pill or having her man use a condom. (Which both are being IRRESPONSIBLE if they get pregnant and do NOT want a baby)

Leaving a baby at the fire station is a better and more responsible choice IF the mother and father both agree they do not want the baby. At least this will give another family that WANT a baby a chance to have one.

Again if the father wants to take full responsibility then I believe he has a right to take custody of the MOTHERS UNWANTED baby and be a Man, then she should be obligated to comply with that request, and furthermore should pay child support .

AGAIN if NEITHER want a baby then use PROTECTION, because they are both being IRRESPONSIBLE when they don't.

And for both parties involved do not have SEX with anyone you do not want to have an 18 year commitment to..............

1) If a woman can't raise a child, and chooses not to give it up for regular adoption, than it is far better and yes, more responsible to abort it or if it is too late for that, to leave it at a fire station than to just abandon it someplace.

2) If she chose to keep the child, and the FATHER of the child helps support it, she will certainly have more than equal responsibility for raising the child. Child support implies that he will not be there. So SHE will be getting up at 2 AM for the feedings. SHE will be changing the diapers. SHE will be taking care of the child when sick. SHE will be taking the kid to the doctor, the playground, the preschool etc. SHE will be the one who has to find child care if she wants to work to pay the rent and utilities.

3) Equality means having the same shot at a good life. A guy can take care of his kid (in your scenario- all he has to do is send a check once a month.) He can go and have whatever career he wants, anywhere he wants. SHE has to be pregnant for 9 months, give birth, and then take care of a baby for 18 years.

You tell me what is equal.

A woman who aborts (kills) or abandons (abuses) her child is taking no responsibility whatsoever. She is taking what she considers to be the easy way out. It is the selfish way out.

A man who takes his woman to the abortion clinic to snuff out the little life (about 40% do) is also taking the easy and selfish way out, as well.

A woman who puts her child up for adoption is doing the responsible thing, as long as the father has consented.

A man who fathers a child but does not want to marry the woman is doing the responsible thing to be involved in the child's life.

Child support is relative. I paid my ex-husband child support although my daughter lived with me. I made more money and we had joint custody.

it's been said before, but I agree with it. If a woman is to have the absolute, unassailable right to decide whether to keep or dispose of a baby, and if she chooses the former, be legally allowed to snatch him/her up and leave the man for ANY reason (even one as base as her finding a new guy to screw), then the father (having no reasonable hope of getting custody himself) should have no legal obligation to pay child support.

And all this crap we hear from Blabber Yaga and the like about how men should keep it in their pants if they don't want to be enslaved by a ridiculously unfair system is moronic, overtly sexist s*hitola. Do women not have any control over who they drop THEIR pants for? Remarks like that indicate nothing so much as the maker of them considering women as nothing more than non-thinking spew receptacles that just couldn't help getting taken advantage of and knocked up.

Abandoning a child would be the same as father who refuses to contribute financially to the well being of his children or will not spend any time parenting them. All of these scenarios are wrong. A woman has a right to decide to have an abortion, the same as a man has the right to provide contraception. Once the ball leaves his ballpark it is up to the woman to deal with the consequences.

I disagree with all of those Quote because adult making mistake when comes to family. Why do they need to have a child if they can't even take care of them self? If I were them, I would think before doing anything. For the most part of having a child is money now days. that why young adult they are so stupid that they would have many children, and hoping that they don't need to take any action, when comes to kids. there are also believes that they can't use a condom, when they do sex. If you car about believes and children, follow your believe first and finish your college and when you can take care of yourself, find your mate and have children, if you want to take action for it, most of the people not doing that, because they are to lazy or doing for the money. If i were the government or president, I would say to people that, they can't have children until they are ready for it.
Want to talk more about it, just IM me.

"When I previously asked about what reproductive responsibilities men and women have, I was told that while men have a responsibility to pay child support if the mother chooses to have the child..."

This is FALSE, and your selective retention of information is concrete proof that you are NOT here to ask legitimate questions; instead, you are here to get on your soapbox at whine incessantly - at the top of your lungs. You were, in fact, informed by several people that the man has various options regarding birth control; he can choose to:

1. Keep his pecker in his pants

2. Wear a condom. Paranoid men may wear several at once

3. Get a vasectomy; they're done right at the doc's office!
