Just out of curiousity, I am wodering how does aquartic plants such as baby tears start off? Do they start out as a seed or u have to have its stem or roots to grow it? I saw this topic on this aquartic plant forum saying that there r bulb of a plant that u can dump into the water and in a week it will start growing. Anyone can provide me some information on these?? I want to add some more plants but I want to start them off as a seed or bulb. Also any idea where I can get them? I checked my LFS already they dont have such things. Any online sites that sells it would be nice. Thanks for the helps.

If your tank is deep enough you can grow water lily bulbs of a couple of dwarf varieties, also Madagascar Lace plant grows from a bulb, and there are a couple others in that family that grow from bulbs. I'm sorry that I can't remember the proper names(Latin) of these plants, but this should be enough to get a search started.Look in the classified adds in the back of fish magazines for people that sell plants, and their web sites. Oh,oh, I just remembered the name of the dwarf water lilies,It's Nymphea or Nymphia, that should help a little. Good luck.PeeTee

Baby tears starts as a plant itself and when the plant reached about 3-4 inches in height, you can snip a piece off and replant and it will continue to grow.
I am unaware of many aquarium plants that start as a seen or bulb per say. I am not saying they dont exist, although most start as seedling from other plants.

i get plants and seeds online on ebay. there is also a place called aquariumplants.com you can order plants from. there are lots of plants that are bulbs -- baby tears isn't one of them. petco and petsmart and walmart sell packets of bulbs and tubers but they are unmarked so you don't know what it is until it starts growing.
