I was always a fan of the Specials' "Pressure Drop" and "Ghost Town"
To me it wasn't a style or fad or anything, it was and is still music that reminds me of my childhood - when MTV first came on the air, and we were just learning what "cool" music was out there beyond our borders.

The Specials will always have a place in my heart...
especially for those songs with a social conscience...
"Nite Klub"; "Too Much, Too Young"; "Blank Expression"; the awesome "Ghost Town"; "Stereotype" and "Free Nelson Mandella" spring to mind.
The fantastic mix of Jerry Dammers, Terry Hall, Lynval Golding, Neville Staples, Roddy Radiation, Sir Horace Gentleman, and John Bradbury was dynamite on stage... and a cracking combo on vinyl too!
Madness were not exactly Ska - but not exactly not Ska either... just a whole bunch of fun... and "Night Boat To Cairo" is a classic, and "One Step Beyond" is just a mad dance-floor filler - even thirty or more years on!
A agree with the earlier caller that there is not much going on Ska-wise now... but Reel Big Fish are pretty cool - and Bedouin Soundclash are superb. Check out "Rude Boy Abroad" and "Shelter" from the 'Sounding A Mosaic' album.... nice stuff.
