We'd like to name him Dante Kanterezhi-Gatto. Is that too different of a name for someone, especially a boy?

Oh dear dear dear...that's a little bit of a long name for Baby to learn to spell before he goes to kindergarten, don't you think? I'm more of a tranditionalist myself, but I'm certain whatever you name your little one, I'm certain he's not going to lack in any love. Bless him and Bless you both.

I'm assuming the "Kanterezhi-Gatto" is both your last names hyphenated, right?

Have you two thought about changing both your last names to something more "neutral"? Just a thought...I have a couple of friends who did that, they came up with a mutual family name for themselves and their kids! It was cool.

But...anyway...I LOVE the name "Dante' " Very cool....

I named my son something a bit "off the beaten path" as well. At first when I got to know my son a bit more, it seemed he didn't fit with the name all that well, so I started calling him a nickname of his middle name...but it never stuck.
Now that he's almost grown, he oddly seems to fit the name just fine.
Email me and I'll let you know what it is...I just don't give it out in public forums.

I think the name is absolutely -amazing-. Just be careful not to get too hung up over the fact that he's a boy. Remember when you were a younger girl, and people told you that girls didn't do/feel what you did/felt? Don't decide against a name just because you think it might be not quite boyish enough.

Have fun with your baby! I can't wait until my boyfriend and I are finally done with school (five more years—he just started his doctorate) and can actually plan for having a kid. I'm so jealous.

And, I repeat, that's an amazing name. How'd you come up with it?

Congratulations! Dante is absolutely cool. However, for some reason, when I switch it to say Dante Gatto-Kanterezhi it seems to roll off the tongue easier.

I like Dante. I am assuming the hyphenation is a combination of both of your surnames. It is unusual, and you have to think about the fact that he is already going to get attention for having 2 moms. But it will be a name with lots of meaning, so if you like it, go for it.

Firstly, congratulations.
Secondly, names that are hard to spell can cause problems. Dante Dantie Dantay have you heard of Dante's inferno ? Dentey's what ? if you see what I mean. I suppose it all depends on the hearing of the person spoken to and the clarity of the speaker.
Best wishes to all three. Rose P.

Dante is a nice name if he grows up to be handsom, rich and charming. If he turns out to be a regular Joe...it will be hard to live with...unless he is black. A unique middle name, however, is a great thing. I have one...when I was a kid I was not so thrilled but now? A very good thing.

I personally love the name Dante so I think you should go with it! I love unique names! When my wife and I have children I want to name our boy Xander Michael...

I really love unique names. I really do. However, just think of the difficulty people will have pronouncing his name! My name's Aidan, which is really popular right now, but in the late 80's when I was a little kid, people always spelled my name 'Aiden' or 'Aydin' or something like that. I'm not trying to talk you out of your name choice, but think about how it might affect him in the future.

:)

Congrats:)

Dante is great.

If the other names are just the last name that is fine--but if part of the first name--nyet.
