I'm in Indiana and we still drive when it snows because

1. We are used to it, alot of people that used to live in the north had to drive in it. So its easy to them.

2. We have jobs and they don't get canceled because of snow, so that means we have to get there.

3. If there is alot its usually not on the roads, the transportation department comes and plows it away. Plus the cars help melt it a little bit.

4. A little bit isn't going to kill the car. Hell I have drove in blizzard conditions and made it home.

Besides jobs, I live in Oklahoma and have been snowed in for FOUR DAYS!!! That's four days with no one to talk to but my family. Eventually you get bored. Many people in TX and OK have big SUVs so driving in ice and snow isn't really a problem.

Umm cause it would suck to walk...yeah it do.
People in Texas seem to freak out more when it snows and drive pretty poorly though so maybe they should walk.

Because they have to get there. Because they lived up north and know how drive on snow. Because they are stupid and think their horsepower will get them there even in a lightly loaded pickup.
