If you have a lot of sun (min. of 4 to 6 hours daily) and soil that is able to drain well you will be able to grow them. They will grow in all types of soil but they need to be able to drain. Waterlogged soil will kill roses (cause them to mold and then die). I have a rose garden and I used regular soil purchased from a hardware store and then added wood chips on top of the soil to absorb some of the water. I also use rose food (also from Home Depot) and put that on the roses every 3-4 months (they have easy directions). Also if you are growing them in warm weather just cut back 1/3 in the spring and again in the winter time. No need to cut back all of the way if you don't get a frost. Good luck! I have had healthy roses for years. (Also use a non-chemical pepper spray to get rid of the bugs)

Yes you can but don't expect them to grow as well as say in Victoria. You will also need to spray etc for fungal diseases because of the high humidity. Be careful in your rose selection some are more disease proof than others and some are more suited to high humidity areas. Contact your local nursery to get some satisfactory varieties for your area.

If where you live is subject to salt spray etc it's not going to work for you but you could build up the soil if yours is very sandy, to try to keep some moisture.

My father-in-law grows roses at Banora Point but they need to be watered everyday because of the sandy soil and the shrub is not very large.

Its a lot of effort for something that's never going to grow that well because roses are just not that suited to the seaside.

If you really love them check out the neighbourhood and see if the locally grown ones are growing how you want yours to grow.
Hope this helps.

Of course! Make sure you find a species and cultivar developed specifically for your area. Try a local Rosarian group in your city...

I have roses in Florida that were developed here and they grow fine....
