Hi, my '95 VW Golf GL 2.0 starts jerking after about 5 minutes of driving. Could someone tell what the problem could be? My father thought it was fuel filter, but after changing it, the problem did not go away. The jerking is especially noticeable during slower speed 10-50. When I step on gas to go fast it seems to go away, until I slow down again. It (the jerking) also goes away when I am driving in neutral. My cars FWD. I had fuel injector problems before with this car, so maybe fuel injector could be the problem? Someone mentioned fuel pump, could it be the fuel pump? I do not want to start buying new parts until I know what the problem is. My car is also without a muffler at this moment, just that end part. But I was told that should not be causing the jerking or twitching. I highly doubt it's the tires too, because I know what it feels and sounds like when the tires are bad. Please let me know what could be causing this problem, or the best way to find out the problem. Thanks!

I also noticed that the jerking goes away for a decent amount of periods while driving. On the way home, it went away for about 5-10 minutes, thought maybe it fixed itself, but it came back later on :(

Noticed that twitching usually starts after 90+ degree turn to the left. Or maybe it is just a coincidence? :s

Me again, I just wanted to describe the shaking batter. It's not really shaking but it is more like jerking or twitching. Please, tell what it could be.

I took it to AutoZone, but they don't have the system for '95 VW Golf. So it will cost me $50 to take it where they do have the system. I hoped to get answer here for free :)
Would unbalanced tires stop jerking when in neutral gear as well?

Was happening in my bimmer. Mechanic said that several spark plugs had broken. Try a tune up.

i own a repair shop, and it sounds more like a miss-fire than anything else,,why don't you take it by auto zone and have them scan it for free, and see if it has any bad sensors on it,this will hep you in the long run to better diagnose what might be wrong with it,,it may just need a good tune up,,but until it is scanned ,i wouldn't buy any parts either,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
