You have three basic choices...
1. Get a co-signer for the phone through a regular contract based service.
2. Pay a deposit (specified by each company differently) that the company will keep for a year or two in most cases until you've earned some credit standing with them.
3. Go with a prepaid cell phone plan (also called "pay as you go")... most, if not all, prepaid cell phones forgo the credit check process. You can find a list of possible providers at sites like http://www.prepaidreviews.com and http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-3504_7-6260217-1.html

Most providers will accept a deposit of around 100 dollars or so, for those with bad credit or no credit at all. You can get one of those pay-as-you-go phones for about 15-20 bucks, and then purchase minutes whenever you need them. But that can get expensive if you plan on talking alot.
P.S.. I almost forgot about that pre-paid debit card. It works like a credit card except that you're using your own money. In fact that's how i got my phone, but I only did it because i needed it for work and my tracfone was too expensive. But when the job ended, i went back to my tracfone because I don't talk on the phone that much... I've had mine for about fours years too.

a couple yrs ago i tried doing the same with Tmobile, they denied me for not having credit. So went to RadioShack and got a sprint phone there and i have been with Sprint ever since. No credit history is required.

both and each and each unmarried month after I get my homestead telephone bill, I ask myself why. i imagine 3 human beings have the decision. i imagine i have made and gained (complete of both at the same time, recommendations you) 4 calls on it in the only ideal 6 months. yet nonetheless...I save it. Why? i do not understand...should be some deep seated lack of self assurance, lol, some as yet undiagnosed, unnatural emotional attachment to landline phones? Yeah...phonaphobic separation affliction or some thing...hmmm...ask your self if it would want to qualify me as heavily disturbed adequate to ditch gainful employment and carry at the same time a verify or some thing? Lol...nah, likely no longer, so i wager i am going to easily save paying a in reality ineffective bill each month till???
