You do not need to feed fry until they are actively free swimming. This usually happens after 24-48 hours. You will have better luck if you raise them in a bigger tank as eventually the water quality will decline. Breeders recommend CAREFUL water changes of 10-20% DAILY with feeding 4 times a day for optimum quick growth.
I've heard to use egg yolk as well, but you should use a new yolk per day of feeding to prevent bacteria growth. I would only feed yolk 2-3 days a week. The platys will enjoy spirulina flakes alternated with tropical flake food. Put some in a baggy and rub it. It will turn into a fine powder. Variety is the spice of life and the key to healthy, happy fish.
Good luck!

Even if you crush flakes its not small enough. Get the liquifry or a powder fry food. Also you can feed brine shrimp, crushed hard boiled egg yoke or infusoria. You don't need to feed them the day they are born but it is better.
To do your own infusoria culture, but a leaf of lettuce in a mason jar 3/4 filled with water, close lid. Let it sit in a sunny window for a week, now open it up, thrown out the soggy leaf and empt all the water into the tank. Beware, its super healthy for your fish, but it smells like rotten eggs.
The answer before this one, which is good, says about water changes, I usually siphon water out at the bottom using an air tube when I have fry. Also, put a sponge over your filter intake.

OK if you dont want to buy anything special...Take an egg and hard boil it. Totally hard boil it. Let it cool, dish out the egg yolk and mix with about 1 cup of water. It will make liquid (this is normal). Place 1 drop of the mixture in your tank twice a day. Keep the mixture in the frig when not in use and shake well before you do use it. It works on platy, molly, guppy, danio and those types of fry.

If you take tropical flake food you can crumble it between your fingers so it makes smaller bites, they will eat that just fine.
