My 5 1/2 month old daughter takes 3 naps a day. The first one at 9am and the second usually around noon or one depending on how long her 1st nap was. She usually wakes from the 2nd nap at 2:30, which means she would need a 3rd nap if I put her down for bed at 7:30pm. But lately if she takes the 3rd nap she doesnt go down as easy to bed. How should her naps look at this age? What is the longest amount of wake time for a baby this age? She usually stays awake for about 2 hours at a time. Can she go longer? She has gone 3 hours but I dont want to stretch her to long.

I found some info on a 2-3-4 nap schedule which is supposed to be good at about six months old: nap 2 hours after morning wake up, nap 3 hours after 1st nap wake up time and bedtime 4 hours after 2nd nap wake up. I have done this with my five month old, but he still requires a short third nap at about 4:30 (30 minutes or so) and then bed at 7PM. It seems to be working well.

At that age she should be transitioning to two naps (most already have) ... most of the time thats around 10 am and again 2pm

SInce she wants a third nap but then doesnt go down for bed anymore, you need to move her naps, unless you would like a later bedtime.

Keep her entertained in the morning so she can stay awake a bit longer and will then take a nice nap.

Okay I am not going to try and be the know it all about parenting as I am a first time mom, my son is 6 months old, the doctor said about this time he only needs between 14-15 hours of sleep total. My son takes two naps for about a total of 3 hours a day but then sleeps from 7pm to 7am (i don't think he stays alseep the whole time though) your son will work out a schedule for himself and if he's tired he'll sleep. My son can stay up for about 3 hours at a time sometimes more but usually he knows when he's tired. I did have a mother in my mommy and baby class that was letting her child sleep for 6 hour naps and then wondered why she wouldnt sleep though the night. Obviously you aren't doing that. :)

she should only have 2 naps but u have 2 work out how many hours from when she wakes up in the morning and when u put her to bed at night and if u think her naps are to long u should wake her up or buy a book about baby and toddles sleeping times

Just go with the flow, let the child eat , sleep all she wants.
This is the growing stage.
U need to nap when she naps, cause u will be running alot when the child starts walking and crawling.
relax and let the baby be.

toddlers, highly that age, and for a lengthy time period somewhat, should be napping about 11 hrs at evening. your son is in common words napping about 8.5 hrs at evening. also he's in basic terms about 6 months or maybe on the 6 month marker he should be getting about 3-4 hrs of sleep in the course of the day. Now your son is in basic terms about precisely like mine, taking short naps although my son is getting more effective perfect too. one concern to attempt, do not anticipate he has awaken in basic terms because he starts to cry. I once concept my infant after an hr nap became wakeful. I fed him and he fell lower back asleep in my fingers and slept for yet another hour, very unusual for him. although I even ought to say it does no longer artwork in many cases, although that is easily worth a attempt. also my son gained't sleep, or wakes up VERY quick if the room is in basic terms too vibrant. I even ought to apply something to dam out the overall public of solar even as he naps. It has helped. make confident he's getting adequate tummy time. That tires toddlers out a lot. each so often i attempt to grant my son tummy time about 40 5 min earlier his nap. He receives hungry and drained, and that i prepare rolling over and frequently have relaxing. after I be conscious he's rubbing his eyes or getting cranky, i take him to mattress, with me in many cases, and close the curtains, and feed him and allow him to relax down slightly. He falls asleep properly even as feeding. also in case you want a touch one sleep e book may help you. It talks about infant sleep, how a lot they should be getting, and the thanks to help them get it. i like to recommend Elizabeth Pantley's "The No Cry Sleep answer."

I think that sounds about right for your baby's age.... try stretching her an extra half hour before ou would normally put her down... adjust it to one hour as more time goes on.
