WIC (a government program to get you free food) and Medicaid are things you should look into. Also, most any prenatal vitamin you can buy at a store (WalMart Target Walgreens) is the same as the RX kind. You may also want to get an extra Folic Acid Supplement. Here are some sites to look at for more specific info on what the pills should have in them.

Congrats on your news. I wouldnt worry to much, the worry is worse than what you will do or not do right. To start with Prenatals are very important, the most important part of them is the folic acid. If you cant afford a prenatal vitamin, you can take just folic acid it is about 1/3 of the price, and the most vital part of the prenatal. You can get most of the other requirements from a healthy well balanced diet. The discharge is normal, and the cramping is too. I had really bad cramping for the first 3-4 weeks, very similar to period cramps, it is just everything stretching to acomodate the baby, as long as it doesnt come with bleeding you will be fine. Get to the doctor as soon as you can, but just to let you know on your first visit they just take your family history and ask you some questions, and send you for your blood work. There isnt much that they can do yet to let you know how your baby is doing. Have you checked out any prenatal websites? I found that I really liked i-village, and babycenter. Good Luck.

don't take flintstones vitamins they won't hurt but they won't really help a lot they are measured for a childs needs not even an adult womans needs never mind a pregnant woman! Prenatal vitamins are available over the counter Walmart even carries a generic version for about 16.00 for the whole time and the stuf my OBGYN perscribes is a name brand of the same stuff its called Materna you do not need a prescription for it I have full innsurance and free perscriptions and that is what they gave me.Vitamins help babies growth but, will not save a child who isn't going to make it. Also eat sunflower seeds or other foods with folic acid aides in babies development. I would try to get innsurance or find out if you qualify for medical aid having a baby is very expensive in the States (We don't pay in Canada so I don't know the exact price)The pains you are having may be natural as your uterus is stretching and a little disharge is normal if it changes colour, smells or increases these are usually the biggest signs. You do need to see a Dr so please try and get innsurance as you know you are going to need it and what you pay out will probably be equal to the birth nevermind what it will cost if there are complications.I saw some Drs won't see patients until they are 8 months thats bull many women see the OBGYN earlier and due to price of malpractice innsurance these Dr's pay there aren't many so make the call. Also you need a Dr if you are RH- they need to know as you will need Win Rho shots (this is a shot supplied by pharmacetical companies that uses a blood derigative to prevent blood mismatches and you should get checked for Diabetes too these tests are around 26-28 weeks so there is a lot of time. Other than that usually you get to hear a heart beat and they measure your tummy to make sure everything is ok.Don't worry too much tho many women are pretty far along by the time they find out they are pregnant so you are ahead of the game good Luck!
Get the book What to Expect When You Are Expecting its a good read and should put you at ease.

I would say get on medicaid and WIC until you can afford to go to anything else. There are some people who would look down on people like that, but I will tell you this. Anyone who does not abuse those things are helped immensely. I do not believe in those who believe they can use the system and not do anything else is mistaken. But Medicaid will take care of the majority of the medical bills. Take prenatal vitamins. They can be bought fairly cheap at Wal Mart. If they make you sick try taking them a little later in the night. Congratulations and it is good you are concerned for your child. If you tell the doctors you are trying to get on Medicaid they will work with you until you do get on Medicaid. WIC will test your Iron levels and give you cereal, milk, eggs, juice, beans, cheese and peanut butter. Of course each state will probably vary. Of course the stores will help you figure out what is wic approved.

I would make a dr.s appt. anyway in CA they will sign you up for medi- Cal right there in the office and that can pay for everything. Most drug stores care prenatal vitamins but just a womens vitamin would be good too.
The most important thing to do right now is not to drink or smoke or be around anyone who does and drink plenty of water. This will help the baby grow and insure your not dehydrated if morning sickness sets in go to the store and get "what to expect when your expecting or visit Ivilliage.com they are a great place for info and support.

Flinstones, that is what I take because all the prenatal vitamins that I tried made me sick. The pain could be a urinary tract infection and the discharge if you are having more than usually it is because of the pregnancy! Good luck, oh and depending on how far along you are...most dr's won't see a pregnant woman until she is 8 weeks so they can get a good sonogram!
Congrats!

Go to your counties job and family services since you are pregnant they will give you insurance no questions asked You can also get prenatal vitamins at the store. As far as the sharp pain it could very well be your ligaments starting to stretch. Also the discharge is normal it's just hormons baby.

CONGRATS i loved being pregnant it was the best thing. I would go and get on the WIC( women and infant) program and Medicaid. IT helps with getting your eyes checked, dentist, all your doctor app.'s for the little one any thing that deals with the baby it helped me a lot.its really hard loosing your little one mine was stillborn and it was hard stress added a lot to me try to avoid any extra stress. I was only told to take prenatal but ask your doc. clear discharge is OK but watch out for brown or red that isn't so good i hope this helps e-mail me if you have any more questions at mrsbluefuzzybunny@yahoo.com

Go buy some prenatal vitamins from Wal Mart. One Source prenatal is good. That is what I use. Dont wait for the dr to prescribe them. You can switch over to what the dr prescribes to you later. You will be ok. I think everything you have described is normal.

As for the insurance...go to your county assistance office and apply for medical assistance. if you show proof of pregnancy you could get gateway and there are no co-pays.
for the pain it could be many things sorry i cant help you there.
as for the white clear discharge i had it throughout pregnancy.
just take it easy relax because can cause miscarriage.
but if you bleed at all and you are for sure preg. then be very concerned.
other than that my only advice is get medical assistance...and wic (women's infants children)-helps with food
and local pregnancy center they offer free counseling and advice of places in your area and are quite experienced.
good luck to you and rest.
