Can I file my taxes over the phone with the IRS and if so, does it cost and how much

Try www.taxactonline.com, it's free and you can pay for the direct deposit with your return. Or, if you want a check, it's completely free, it just takes longer. I've used it for three years now and I love it.

No. You can file a paper or online form on your own. Or-- You can have someone do the filing for you like H&R Block or other CPA. (you will need to provide all your wage W-2 forms etc... and pay a fee).

TeleFile was discontinued by the IRS in 2005 after the tax season.

I don't know if you can still file over the phone but if your adjusted gross income is less than $52,000 there is a free online service available on the IRS web site called free file. Check it out: http://www.irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=118986,00.html

You can do TeleTax...IF you qualify....contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040...also...most states offer free tax preparation
