I ate at a mcdonald's in Florence, South Carolina today and I would like to know why the employee's working there are not required to wear gloves when preparing food or orders. This is not the first time. I have noticed it two times prior to this. Please check into this because when I ran a convience store where sandwiches were made, we were required by DHEC to wear gloves. Thank you

It doesnt matter if you dont touch anything but the food all day long, when handling any kind of food you are required to wear gloves no matter what. I worked in the resturant business for years and it was always required. I think you just went to a bad mcdonalds because i am sure they were suppose to be wearing gloves

Only food I like from McDonald's: Happy Meal with Cheeseburguer (just w/ cheese), Chicken Nuggets and Double Cheeseburguer (again just cheese). And of course, the fries.

If the food they are preparing is going to be cooked reaching a temp of at least 180 degrees then they do not need to. Most states require that you wear them for handling of all non heated foods. California for one sadly does not reqire gloves for sandwich making. So if you want to be safe move to NY!

I have never seen any restaurant employee wearing gloves, but then we don't necessarily see the people making the sandwiches.
All our hands are loaded with bacteria; did you wear gloves while you ate the food?

the general ruling on when to wear gloves or not to wear gloves, depends on the manager. the people making the food( putting it together) or cooking the food ( grill) are reguired to wear gloves. they are also reguired to wash their hands every hour. they also change their gloves when dealing with different meats/chicken. this is for the grill people who deal with the raw, frozen food. if you go to a differnet mcdonald's like in michigan, the employees here wear gloves.

In your convience store, did the people who made the sandwiches also sell them and handle dirty money? In McDonalds, the people who handle the food only do that. They are not supposed to handle anything "dirty". Its the counter people who handle the money (and they just touch the containers, not the food itself).

There is so much bacteria breeding on our hands that food handlers should always wear gloves.

what difference does it make that they are wearing gloves, nothing will kill you faster than eating at McDonalds.
