are held up by the snaps at the top, then why do they have belt loops?

So that you can wear the appropriate belt color to match whatever shoes you're wearing of course!!!

so you can either put a belt on and a shirt to make it look like regular jeans, or to let the straps hang down and to wear a belt to keep them up.
