I would like to know what other women think about birth control pills, what one your on, how long you've been taking it, what your friends are on, good things, bad things about certain pills etc.

Each person reacts differently to each birth control pill, so it's essentially impossible to predict how one person will react to a certain pill even if her friends have all had good experiences on it.

That being said, certain types of pills may have tendencies toward certain side effects. Triphasic pills, or pills that have three different levels of hormones (one for each week of "active" pills) might have a greater tendency to cause mood swings, while pills that are "low-dose" might have a greater tendency to cause breakthrough bleeding.

I was on Ortho Novum 777 for 15 years and aside from a little weight gain it worked great. Kept my periods regular and I never had any cramping. I have recently switched to Seasonale and I just love it. Like the girl said it keeps you from having a period every month and what girl wouldn't love that. I haven't gained any weight on it or noticed any significant changes from the other pills. So I would highly recommend either of these pills.

I had to go through about 6 different pills until I got one that worked for me. Mostly I kept getting breakthrough bleeding, so they had to keep upping the dose. I've tried triphasic ones, and now I'm on a monophasic one which I take for three months in a row without a period - it's great - I've been on that one for about 3 years now. It's really a matter of what works for you. My sister can't take the one that I do - it totally removes her sex drive and makes her grumpy. I'm on Norimin 28. I've been taking various birth control pills for 9 years - started taking them when I was 17 to control irregular periods.

Seasonale is by far the best birth control pill I have ever taken. Taken consistently you are only have your period every 3 months, which is great. It's safe too. My cardiologist approved my Ob/gyn to prescribe it for me.
