I usually print cover letters on a more refined and better quality paper than my resume. It's the first thing the employeer looks at and if it looks nice and professional it gives them a good impression.

Well, putting it all on the same type of paper really looks professional and stands out. That is what you are trying to do at that point in a job search.

You can also apply for jobs on line through e-mail. Then you would e-mail your resume to the person looking for an employee. The resume should be sent as an attachment and the e-mail should be a cover letter. Or you could send both as an attachment.
