That depends on what type of organism, and what you define as successful. There are no set numbers (the first poster is just amusing himself).

Generally speaking, it's much easier to transform (genetically engineer) plants than animals. In many dicot plants the rate of success (which I define as normal plants expressing the engineered trait that are capable of reproduction) is close to 100%.

In animals, the success rate is significantly lower.

There are many transgenic crops, but the problem you have is that some transgenic crops affect animals because they are unnatural this is why many counties and municipailities have outlawed them. For example, maize (corn) was biologically engineered to resist certain caterpillars but now there is a law in the US that prohibits growing genetically engineered maize without growing natural maize because introduction of the Altered maize has decimated the Monarch Butterfly and made it a n endangered species. SO, if you are PRO the big argument is that Genetically altered crops affect the food chain and eventually affect all animals including man.

Field=Genetics, Molecular Biology It is important for the people who believe they can play with the genes of someone to make perfection for another. As far as I know, there are 2 mainly different types of cloning, human and the ones that create organs. The ones with the organs are taken away from embryos, and they seek to help people who are in need of that new one. The first one i dont think it has any importance.....
