Well, he seems to have gotten away with warrantless tapping, when there is a perfectly workable system in place to give him what he wants (18,000 warrants presented to FISC and four denied in thirty years).

On that basis he evidently has too much power and no one has done anything to rein him in.

Bush has drastically expanded the scope of executive authority, to the point where even Republicans in Congress and a Conservative Supreme Court have questioned his judgements. Bush has attached more signing statements to laws he's signed than most Presidents combined. He's subverting Congress and expanding his power beyond the normal scope of executive power. Im not claiming hes going door to door trampling civil liberties, but an administration this secretive and constantly expanding its power even if in mundane and seemingly innocuous ways is a cause for concern.

Just ignore the poor answers. They are just trying to frustrate you. All presidents are given the power to make war and control the military. This is just proving to be a different war than we expected and it is proving very difficult. He also has the power to leave, but that would be far more costly to achieve. If you don't have confidence in the president, have confidence in the men on the ground. They will not disappoint.

Yes he does have too much power, and that's their (his Administration) plan from the very beginning. Bush has been changing Constitutional rules, and his Republican dominated Congress let him loose. The American voters were at least able to elect a Democrat Congress last Nov., hopefully this could have some check and balance on the Executive Branch.

No he has as much power as the president of the United States should have.
Now you should be asking Should he be president...???? And the answer to that is no. In my opinion.

In my personal opinion Bush shouldn't have any power what so ever. He has completely ruined not only our country but Iraq too. He is a complete idiot and I can hardly wait for the day he is gone.

Checks and Balances, my terrorist loving friend.

He has the same amount of power every other President has had.
