i have had awful acne on my face, back, and chest since sixth grade (two years). i've tried everything and i'm on two prescriptions from the dermatologist, but it hardly helps. i wash my face twice a day but my skin is so oily. does anyone know any good facial masks or scrubs or anything? or just ways i can feel better about myself? i hate hiding under makeup every day, so don't suggest makeup, as i already wear it just to survive middle school.

I know, being a teen is rough sometimes! But you shouldn't give up! What I'm going to do it give you a bunch of recommendations. Now, these products and tips I'm going to give you are not pricey nor hard to keep up with so no worries. 1. Drink lots of water, and I mean lots! Water keeps skin hydrated and keep your skin clear. + also try drinking green tea ! 2. Exercise! Just trust me ;) 3. Don't eat or drink greasy/sugary things. At least keep it on the down low because those foods make your skin oily and break out easily and fast. Avoid pop, candy, fried foods and fast food. 5. Wash your face no more than 2 times a day. In the morning and before you go to bed. 6. Try wearing makeup no longer than 8 hours a day. 7. DON'T touch your face or pick on it. On your fingers and in your nails there are lots of germs and bacteria that may affect your face when touched. 8. When treating acne try more natural remedies at home. Don't go for the chemically filled products - they don't work well and dry out your skin. 9. Stress level must go down. Many people breakout because of stress. 10. Accept it and accept yourself! If you have a bit of acne, it wont be there forever and lots of people your age have it! You're not the only one ! Here are products that I use: I had some body breakouts and I used : BODY CLEAR® Body Wash Pink Grapefruit by Neutrogena and Neutrogena Body Clear Body Spray which worked really well. For my face I use : Clean and Clear advantage blackhead clearing astringent and tea tree skin clearing foaming cleanser which is from the Body Shop in Canada, so if you live in Canada your in luck if you want to get it. Otherwise, try getting something natural and/or oil-free. Exfoliating (you should do like 3 times a week) : Clean & Clear Deep Action Exfoliating Scrub Mask (twice a week) : Honey and Oat 3-in-1 scrub mask from The Body Shop . Find a mask that will work for you ! All masks work pretty well. I like the one I used because it cleanses, polishes and moisturizes. For healing acne scars : I use vitamin E oil for it fades scars and promotes faster healing. *Hope this works for you! If it doesn't work the way you wished, consider visiting a dermatologist ! GOOD LUCK!

One of the main causes of Acne is washing your face too much. It's a common misconception that you should wash your face more, but that's not true - it clogs your pours and dries out your skin. If you're still experiencing problems, get a bottle of vitamin E capsules (which can easily be found at your local health food store) and take them internally, as well as putting some of the actual vitamin E on your face to reduce the re-occurrence of the acne.

PS - Most over-the-counter creams just suppress the condition and initially make it worse later in life. The natural way is the only true way to get rid of the problem once and for all.

If you're not already on the birth control pill, you might want to try that to clear up your skin. That's the only thing that ever worked for me, and I'm 25 and have had acne since I was 11.

I also particularly like a brand of face soap called "Oat" from Bath and Body Works. It's good for drying up oily skin without being abrasive, and that's helped my skin to stay clear of acne caused by skin irritation along with the birth control pill. :)

Good luck...I know what you're going through!!

You poor thing i Know exactly how that feels, I have a long history of acne in the family, and It stopped with me. When you see a dermatologist they usually give you crappy Benzoil Peroxide and Antibiotics which are crap, next time you go ask for "ACUTANE", I had a long time family doctor prescribe this because he actually cared. He says many dermatologist dont prescribe this because it requires blood testing to make sure your liver can take it, many dermatologist are lazy and dont want to go through the procedure of filing the papers. But trust me, nothing works better than these Acutane pills. Not only will it get rid of the ones in the face, but also all over the body.

it will just have to clear up. i know its really hard but basically all you can do is be patient and wait. i used to have a bit of acne on my face and my dermatologist gave me prescriptions and stuff but they make it worse. i also tried proactive and it would work but its like addictive. once i stopped using proactive, it started to become worse than it started out as.

use light soaps. washing ur face too often with strong soaps will result in washing all the oil away. that may sound good, but ur skin becomes really dry and ur acne actually wont go away. also you might want to check ur makeup. some make up clog pores and make ur skin worse in the long run. also dont eat so many oily foods. oily foods clog up ur pores. you cant do too much about it. just wait for it to clear up. it will eventually. good luck

Use Proactiv Solution. It's a bit pricey if you try to order ir online, but if you go to your local drugstore and pick up a copy of Seventeen or CosmoGirl! you should be able to find an add for Proactiv somewhere in it that will offer you a subscription to it for about $25 a month. Still a bit expensinve for something monthly, but hey, it's dead amazing. You won't be disapointed.

Sweety youre probably just going to have to wait it out. I went through the same thing. You're probably going to want to kill me for saying this but I didn't clear up until I was 19. But it's good you don't wear much makeup. Washing my face with a gentle soap whenever it got oily helped calm it down though. It's all apart of growing up for some of us. Good luck!

is it as bad in the summer?
I know you're still pretty young, but...
when i was your age, i begged my mom to let me go tanning and that seemed to dry my skin enough to stop the breakouts.
that's probably not the best advice you'll get here - it's just what worked for me when i was your age.
keep drinking a lot of water - that will flush the toxins from your body.
