If you grew up in the 80's, I'm sure you've heard of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

Recently they released a DVD with a bunch of episodes on it, the first season I believe, and I had to watch it for the nostalgic value. I had a good laugh at myself for having ever been so enthralled by such an obvious ploy by the Mattel Toys Marketing Dept. to sell action figures.

But has anyone else noticed the homosexual undertones in the show? Is it a big joke? Were they trying to get children to accept homosexual behavior at a young age? Was He-Man the model for SNL's "The Ambiguously Gay Duo"?

Lets discuss.

By the way, just because I became aware of the fact that the episodes were just 30-minutes commercials doesn't mean I didn't like it!!

All I do know is that He-Man AND She-Ra became role models for one very disturbed gay man in my past acquaintance. (Note that I am not calling him disturbed because he was gay. He was disturbed AND he was gay.)

Yes, as a result of observing this man's fixation, I did notice the undertones. That man adored He-Man and emulated She-Ra.

I also noticed that for some reason, She-Ra was never allowed to say the word "power" when morphing. He-Man used the words "By the *power* of Greyskull...I have the *power*." She-Ra's cue was, "For the *honor* of Greyskull...I am She-Ra." What did they have against women with power, was what I wanted to know. But that's a whole 'nother animal.

This is so wrong.

I know that the character Adam seems a bit effeminate as does Kringer, but the fact is ALL SUPER HEROES ARE GAY in construction. Watch Chasing Amy and the guy in that movie is correct, except about Archie, he really was all about the .... They wanted Adam to come off like Clark Kent or Bruce Wayne but both of them come off a little gay. And as for He-Man and the rest of them they are always dressed like they ought to be in a soft porn movie.

Definitely, Mattel should have found a better writers but this had nothing to do with the Ambiguously Gay Duo. The oys came out long before the script. They even rewrote the story that came with the toys to make the cartoon.I think Ace and Gary are making fun of Batman and Robin who always seemed gay again.

i'm gay, and co-incidentally, i love to watch he-man when i was young. not the story but of cause the figure of he-man, b4 and after he turns into. and yes, somehow, i find that he-man is gay. compare to batman, he-man character looks more gay.
