Bad luck if you open your umbrella indoors and knock stuff over. If you break a mirror you would have bad luck when the superstition was created back in the day when mirrors were extremely rare and expensive. Neither is true, I've done both a few times (how does one dry an umbrella without opening it out indoors) and I don't believe in the myth (of course if you believe it you'll manifest bad things upon yourself).

As far as the mirror thing, that's a common superstition. It probably stems from the fact that mirrors used to be crazy-expensive and you'd get your a ss whupped for breaking one.

Now, for the umbrellas--many umbrellas have a warranty that says that to be in effect, the umbrella has to be dried while open until fully dry. So, you'd have to dry it inside or at least under a roof or something.

So, it might be bad luck, but people often dry umbrellas inside so the warranty is valid. They might have bad luck, but at least they have the umbrella warranty.

Hi Jazmin

The reason why opening an umbrella became a very well known and popular superstition is from ancient times. Back then it was common to use umbrellas to shade yourself from the sun. However, to open it indoors was an insult to "RA" the sun god.

Haha.
I love questions like this.
I was born on a Friday the 13th...but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'm going to have bad luck the rest of my life.
I mean there are people who really do believe in superstition and you know I'm not going to argue with them because that's what they believe.
But I don't believe in superstitions.
It's just all in what you believe in :).

The sunlight gods get affended and unfold there wrath upon you once you employ them interior simply by fact they must be used exterior to guard you from the sunlight. the 2d being the dwelling house gods getting offended simply by fact the have confidence you do no longer think of they are retaining you properly adequate from the storms. i'm hoping if this occurs word and stay secure. If could have been worse in case you opened it indoors atleast you purely stood decrease than it indoors. 2 days for status decrease than it indoors 7 years for commencing it indoors. beware of YOU 2d DAY PLEASE!

Yeah.
You knock things over and break stuff by playing with the umbrella in the house.
Don't do this.
