I am 30 and pregnant with my second child, in the past 12 months i have gained 10kg (48 to 58kg). Since finding out that i am pregnant i have stoped drinking alcohol but i am still concerned about the weight gain. Will not drinking allow me to slim down a little before i start to get big? What sort of exercise can i do in this early stage of pregnancy? Can i use the total gym xli?

Generally drinking does make you gain weight so if you completely quit drinking, then yes because you are not getting all of the empty calories from alcohol, you will lose weight. You can do any exercises that your body is used to all throughout your pregnancy. If you never used the total gym xli before, now is not the best time to start but if you exercises on a regular basis when you are not pregnant, it is encouraged even in early pregnancy!

Don't worry most of pregnant women don't know they are pregnant in early stage and drinking a little bit here and there at the beginning will not harm the baby.... I was drinking a little bit at the begining because I didn't know and my baby turned out fine. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Don't worry about losing weight while you are pregnant. Concentrate on eating healthily and excersing and your body (and you baby) will thank you later. I think if you do this you may find that the baby weight drops off much easier afterwards. It did for me anyway.
And, don't drink much anyway. I wouldn't have more than one drink a month whilst pregnant. (But that's just my opinion)

I hate to tell you,but you CAN NOT lose weight while pregnant. The baby is not a parasite. It cannot live off of you. It can only live off of what you take in for him/her. To lose weight, you have to take in LESS than your burn. so......if you are taking in less that YOU are using, what does that leave the baby??? Nothing!!!

Walking is good, Jazzercise is great, light aerobics. just take it easy. I gained 22 pounds, but from behind I never looked pregnant. Just eat lots of healthy food, stay mobile, and you will be fine. The problem comes when some women use pregnancy as an excuse to park on the couch and eat everything in site.........don't. Be healthy, keep your baby healthy, and your weight will stay healthy.
Good luck!!!

DO NOT DRINK ALCOHOL!!! AT ALL!!!! as for good work out.. swimming will help slim you down and also walking.... but do not over do it though... eat healthy food.. so you wont gain.... you are not suppose to lose weight during pregnancy unless your doctor tells you too...

If you are worried about slimming down, you need to wait until after pregnancy. It is not safe for you or the baby to diet and attempt to lose weight during pregnancy. If you have concerns about gaining too much weight during pregnancy, you need to talk to your ob/gyn about what to eat duting pregnancy.

losing weight while pregnant will put stress on the baby. That is very unsafe. Wait until after having the baby to lose weight.

Well, whatever you do just don't drink, and if you were drinking beer, then you'd probably slim down because beer has lots of carbohydrates.
