My favorite series is "Harry Potter" because I love that kind of fantasy and how J. K. Rowling writes. I love the characters and the magic. I'm not quite sure I understand the last part of the question, though. It is a personal preference that makes them my favorite as opposed to other novels.

I must say that one of my favorite series of all time has to be the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin. It is a fantasy saga, currenty 4 books long, and is so interesting because it is so realistic. This is not your typical the hero wins and all bad guys die type of series, instead it is about destruction and loss. When you first start out there are probably about 10 or 15 different characters that the author writes of and shows through their point of view. By the 4th book there are about 5 left, and only a couple of them heroes. All the great heros you think are going to solve all the problems die and all the bad guys seem to stay alive and healthy. Where I am right now I am not sure who is good or bad and am VERY confused. I love it. :)

Dresden file book series by Jim Butcher. There are 8 books in the series beginning with stormfront. Each novel in the series is told from the fictional perspective of Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden (named by his father after Harry Houdini, Harry Blackstone, Sr., and David Copperfield). Dresden is the only professional wizard in modern-day Chicago (he is in the phone book, under "Wizards").In the world of The Dresden Files, magic is real, along with vampires, demons, spirits, faeries, werewolves, and more. The general public that Harry Dresden works to protect does not believe in magic or the large array of dark forces which regularly conspire against them. This makes it tough for Harry to get by as a working wizard and private eye.He is aided by Bob,a talking skull.Karrin Murphy-a police officer and Thomas-a white court vampire.
I really admire Dresden's perseverance.Anybody else would have given it up long ago.And he didn't get anything for all the sacrifices he made.He can't get together with the woman he loves. He's under constant threat from all sorts of enemies.
