Serbia is a country that is situated in soth-eastern Europe. It is at Balkan. For history lovers, this country is an excellent place to some to. Serbian history dates from the prehistoric age untill today and it is very dynamic and interesting. I won't be giving you some info about serbian history, because it can easily be found on the Internet. To me, the most interesting part of Serbian history is the medieval one. Serbia was a strong force during the early medieval age, but it was nearly destroyed after the almost whole population died at battle on Kosovo polje 1389. in order to stop the Turks from conquering Europe and destroying christianity. Although Serbia is not in EU, it is one of the oldest european countries. Because of very rich history, Serbia is full of medieval castles like Kalemegdan in Belgrade, and also full of forretreses like Petrovaradinska tvrdjava at Novi Sad. Serbia is also very rich in monasteries, which are one of the oldest in whole Europe. These monasteries are orthodox, and Serbian people are mostly orthodox christians. Belgrade is the capital of Serbia. It's name means the white city! It has been announced to be the city of future of both eastern, south-eastern and southern Europe for two times in a row, from the Times magazine. There are many places to visit in serbian capital, and I shall only mention a few: the temple of Saint Sava (one of the biggest orthodox temples in world), Ada ciganlija, mouth of the Danube and the Sava rivers and so on. Besides, the whole Serbia is well known for its unspoiled natural beauties and national reserve parks, like Tara (to me the most beautiful one) etc. Serbia is also famous of its villages, where you differ two types of villages, but in both of them you will be freed of the electricity, junk food and mostly of modern life. Along with the natives who'll treat you as a king or a queen, you will experience completely different way of living and a peaceful day. In Serbia you'll be tasting various types of food, because after religion, sports and politics, this is the most important thing in Serbia. The famous serbian dishes are cevapcici, gibanica, sarme etc. If you come to Serbia, you'll surely going to have some great fun, because Serbs are a very positive and cheerful people. I think that these are just the basics. If you need some more info, you have those web sites. What to say except enjoy! Hope I helped!
