Whenever a game system first comes out there seems to be some problem techinically. Not only games systems but other new technical things. The new Razor phone had problems because it kept cutting off calls.

Why else do they always come out with a different version? The PS2 first was a bigger system with the slide out disc drive. Bad idea. Now they have the lift up one on the slim PS2 version.

I suggest taking it back to the store, getting your money back, and wait a few years until the price and technical problems go down. It really isn't worth it dude, really. I just got a new PS2 yesterday, and it works just fine for the $1.29 I got it for. The PS3 isn't good enough for the price it cost, barely even better than the PS2.

You need hdmi cables which cost about 100 bucks a pop to display hd on the ps3. The cables the ps3 brings are not able to produce hd. Nykon is coming out with 30$ cables preety soon. I bought the Monster hdmi cables and the difference is like night and day.

You're hooking it up wrong. In order for you to get a 1080p signal from the ps3 to your tv you need to use HDMI cables, not the red, yellow and white cables. You could use component cables, the red, yellow, white, red, blue cables, but that depends if your tv accepts a 1080p signal through component cables or only HDMI. If it doesn't, then you can only get 1080i to your tv through your component cables. After you hook it up right, change the display settings. Mine looks great!

Ive not noticed any graininess (sounds more like a TV issue) Also, they have a sort of cell Shaded styled graphics, It doesnt have "photo-realistic" graphics, so it may be that you are noticing, n whats with the "360 vs PS3"?

Check in the settings to make sure you picked the right HD input, also some games like Untold Legends look like a ps2 game

there are alot of factors in this (possibly):
1)if you bought it from an "unofficial seller"(including ebay)
2)if u haven't asked Sony about it
3)you can check your email on that, right? have you answered any email with the subgect "stinky cheese"(that means there's a virus on it
and 4)if the cables are faulty
the only one u have to pay attention to is #2; ask the people @ Sony about it; not me

More resolution = more details = more visible signs of imperfection

Use a regular TV first, if it looked fine in a regular TV, then you just have saw the wonders of high resolution video games.

Video game makers should learn to blur things to make them 'realistic'.
